HAPPY NEW YEAR

It's 2010! How do you celebrate in your country? What are your traditions?

  1. My family's new year tradition is to eat 12 grapes. Each grape you ask for a wish like good health and things like that. We also wear the hats every year even if your a grown up and look silly. Also I first visit my dad in his house, then to my mom house, then to my aunt house, then we all see each other in our grandma place. There is a twist if i go to my dad house my mom doesn't go or my aunt or my grandma. When i go to my house with my mom nobody comes and the same thing with my aunt. Then when we go to my grandma house is where everybody comes and sees each other. Also another tradition is i go to the Amish the day after new year with my mom and be with them to see how it is. It's really fun to be with the cows and the grass and fresh air. I also go ice skating every new year. If I don't, its not really new years for me. I started that tradition 2 years ago. I love it and so does my mom. My brother hates it but he still goes. My mom and dad might not get along, but in new years they have to be nice to each other because that's their tradition. My aunt comes to be with my cousin. My aunt, my dad and my mom agree on new years that they have to get along, so that's my crazy family tradition.

  5. For New Years, some of the things I do is go to a party on the 31st and all my family goes and we gather round and dance and celebrate. We turn on the t.v and wait until it is 12 o' clock and count down. On the t.v, everybody is in downtown (Times Square) and they're waiting until it is new years. When we count down a ball drops down. It is the ball of new years and it's really cool and then when that is finshed we party some more and celebrate some more and that what i mostly do in new years! :)

  6. On new years, the first thing I do is go shopping to see what I'm going to wear, then I plan things with my mother to see what we're going to cook or who we are going to invite over to my house. I love new years because I get to be with my family & friends, and also we get to dance and have fun!!!

  9. In new year I have dinner with my family.
We speak a lot, sing christmas carols and when it's twelve o'clock we eat the twelve lucky grapes.
The tradicion is that you eat the 12 grapes in each chime, and in each grape that you eat, you must think a wish for the new year.
When the new year arrives, the wish comes true.
After the grapes we felicitate the new year to the whole family.
